If you're new to waxing — or had a not-so-great experience elsewhere — it’s totally normal to feel nervous. But the most common thing I hear from first-timers?
“That wasn’t at all what I expected!”
At Pure Waxing, I specialize in gentle Brazilian waxing for women, using premium hard wax that only sticks to the hair — never your skin. The result? Less irritation, a smoother process, and soft, glowing skin after your wax. Below are the top questions I get, answered honestly to help you feel informed and confident.
1. Does waxing hurt?
A little — but much less than most people expect. I use high-quality, hypoallergenic and fragrance-free premium wax that only adheres to the hairs, not your skin. It goes on silky smooth, making the process much more comfortable.
As you stay consistent with waxing, your hair will grow back finer, softer, and easier to remove, which makes each appointment less painful.
And if you’ve been exfoliating 24 hours before (48 hrs before with chemical exfoliants like Roller Rescue Serum or Radiant Pads) and keeping the area well hydrated with Bushbalm or Koochi oils, the wax removes hair even more easily — which helps reduce discomfort even further.

2. What exactly is a Brazilian wax?
A Brazilian wax removes all the hair from the front, labia, and butt strip — leaving you completely bare from front to back. If you’d like to leave a small strip or triangle, just let me know — you’re always in control.

3. How long should my hair be before waxing?
Hair should be at least 1/4 inch long (about the size of a grain of rice), which usually means 2–3 weeks of growth after shaving. 4 weeks growth if you have already been waxing.

4. Can I get waxed on my period?
Yes — as long as you’re wearing a clean tampon with string tucked in or menstrual cup. Your skin may be slightly more sensitive, but many clients still choose to wax during their cycle. If you’d rather wait, feel free to reschedule.
5. How often should I get waxed?
Every 4 to 6 weeks is ideal. Regular waxing helps your hair grow back on the same cycle, making each wax easier and more effective. Over time, hair becomes thinner, softer, and slower to grow back.
6. Is waxing safe for sensitive skin?
Absolutely. I use fragrance-free, hypoallergenic premium wax that’s specifically formulated for sensitive and intimate areas. Because it only grips the hair — not your skin — the process is much more gentle. Clients often say their skin feels extra soft and smooth after their wax!
7. What should I do before and after my appointment?
Before your wax:
• Exfoliate 24–48 hours before (48 hours with a chemical exfoliant like Roller Rescue or Radiant Pads)
• Hydrate the area daily with Bushbalm or Koochi oil — especially after exfoliating
• Avoid lotions or heavy creams the day of your appointment
• Make sure hair is long enough (1/4 inch)
Why this helps: Exfoliating clears away dead skin, while hydration softens both skin and hair — so the wax grips better and removes hair more cleanly. That means less pain, fewer ingrowns, and smoother results.
After your wax:
• Avoid heat, sweating, and friction for 24–48 hours
• Exfoliate gently 2–3 times a week
• Keep hydrating the area with your oil or serum
• Stick to loose, breathable clothing for a day or two
8. How long will my Brazilian wax last?
You’ll enjoy 2–3 weeks of smooth skin, depending on your growth cycle. With regular waxing, the results last longer, and hair grows back thinner and more manageable.
9. What if I get ingrown hairs?
Ingrown hairs are common but preventable. Proper exfoliation and hydration are key! I recommend:
• Bushbalm exfoliating scrubs
• Roller Rescue Serum or Radiant Pads for gentle chemical exfoliation
• Hydrating oils like Bushbalm or Koochi to keep skin soft and healthy
These products work together to reduce inflammation, prevent buildup, and keep skin bump-free.
10. Can I shave between waxes?
Nope — shaving disrupts the hair growth cycle, making your next wax more uncomfortable and less effective. Stick to a regular waxing routine for the best results — with no razor burn, no stubble, and softer regrowth every time.
Still Feeling Nervous?
I promise — it’s never as bad as you think. Most first-timers leave saying,
“That was way easier than I expected… and my skin feels amazing.”
