How often should I book my waxing appointment?

For the best long-term results, I recommend booking every 4 weeks. Consistent waxing can help maintain smoother skin and encourage finer, softer regrowth over time. Most clients return every 4–6 weeks depending on their individual hair growth cycle.Avoid shaving between appointments, as it can interrupt your waxing schedule. Shaving removes the hair at the surface rather than from the root, which means it can take a few waxes to get back to your regular waxing routine. Staying consistent with waxing helps you achieve the results you're looking for.

Does waxing hurt?

Waxing can cause some discomfort, especially during your first visit, but most clients find it becomes easier and more comfortable with consistent appointments. Returning around 4 weeks after your previous wax, or around 3 weeks after shaving, can help keep the hair at a manageable length, making it easier to apply the wax properly and remove the hair comfortably.  I use Bushbalm's  premium fragrance-free and hypoallergenic hard wax, designed to work effectively on all hair types while being gentle enough for sensitive skin and providing exceptional grip. To help make your appointment as comfortable as possible, I reccomend gently exfoliating the area about 48 hours beforehand. This helps remove dead skin and allows the hair to be removed more easily. Keeping your skin hydrated in the days leading up to your appointment can also help. Using a suitable ingrown-hair oil can help soften the hair, reduce breakage and keep the skin moisturized. I's also best to avoid coffee, energy drinks and alcohol on the day of your appointment, as they may increase skin sensitivity for some people. Some clients choose to take an over-the-counter pain reliever such as Ibuprofen, before their appointment to help manage discomfort. If you are considering taking a medication or antihistamine such as Benadryl, please make sure it is appropiate for you and follow the directions on the package or speak with your healthcare professional. 
Between appointments, continue to moisturize daily and gently exfoliate 2–3 times per week once your skin has fully recovered from your wax, usually after about 48 hours. This can help keep your skin soft, help reduce the chance of ingrown hairs and support more consistent waxing results over time.

I chose Bushbalm Bushbeads Premium Hard Wax because it's specifically formulated for a gentle, efficient and comfortable waxing experience. It's especially well suited to sensitive and delicate areas, including Brazilian, bikini, underarm and facial waxing.Bushbeads is fragrance-free and hypoallergenic, making it a great choice for sensitive skin. Unlike traditional rosin-based waxes, it uses a synthetic formula designed to grip the hair without unnecessarily sticking to the skin.It also has a low melting temperature, allowing for a comfortable application while still providing exceptional grip on both fine and coarse hair. It sets quickly, allowing me to work efficiently while keeping your service flowing smoothly from start to finish. One of the things I love most about hard wax is that it grips the hair while remaining gentle on the skin. As the was sets around the hair, it creates a secure grip that allows me to remove the hair from the root with less pulling and friction on the skin. It also lifts away cleanly without leaving a sticky residue behind.Because the wax is gentle enough for sensitive areas, I can go over a small area again when needed to catch shorter or missed hairs without unnecessarily irritating the skin. Of course, everyone's skin and hair respond differently, and proper aftercare also plays an important role in how your skin looks and feels after waxing.Hard wax also provides a light physical exfoliation as it is removed, lifting away some of the dead surface skin along with the hair. This can leave the skin feeling smoother and softer immediately after your service.It's completely normal to experience some temporary redness or small red bumps immediately after waxing. This is your skin's natural response to hair being removed from the root and typically settles within a few hours.To help soothe and care for your skin after your wax, I love applying one of my hydrogel vajacial masks. How long should my hair be before waxing?

For the best waxing results, your hair should be long for the wax to grip properly, but not excessively long. About the length of a grain of rice is a good guide. If the hair is long enough you can easily grab it between your fingers it's likely too long and may make the waxing more uncomfortable and leave the skin feeling more tender afterward. If you've been shaving, I generally recommend waiting about 3 weeks before waxing. If you have been waxing consistently, booking your next appointment around 4 weeks after your previous wax can help keep the hair at a manageable length for a more comfortable and effective service.Keeping the hair at the right length helps the wax grip properly, which can reduce discomfort, minimize breakage and help acheive a smoother result.

Question 5

Can I get a Brazilian wax while I'm on my period?

Absolutely! You can still have Brazilian waxing while you're on your period. Just wear a fresh tampon during your appointment and tuck the string in.Keep in mind that some clients find their skin is a little more sensitive around their period, so your wax may feel slightly more tender than usual. If you have a particularly heavy flow or don't feel comfortable during your appointment, you may prefer to reschedule for another day. Just keep in mind that changes within 48 hours of your appointment are subject to my cancellation policy.

What should I do to prepare for my wax?

A little preparation can make a difference in how comfortable your waxing appointment feels and how your skin responds afrerward. Here are a few simple things to keep in mind before your appointment.  Shower and let your skin cool down. Alukewarm shower about 30 minutes before your appointment can help ensure your skin has time to cool down before waxing. Clean, cool skin is ideal for your service.Exfoliate, but pause before waxing. Gently exfoliating between appointments helps remove dead skin buildup and can help reduce breakage and ingrown hairs.  However, stop using exfoliating products at least 48 hours before your appointment to give your skin a chance to settle. This includes sugar scrubs and products containing AHAs, BHAs, glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid, fruit enzymes, white willow bark exract or at-home resurfacing peels. I also recommend pausing products such as Bushbalm Roller Rescue at least 48 hours before your appointment When using a sugar scrub between appointments, apply it to damp skin using gentle, light circular motions. Avoid scrubbing too aggressively, as this can irritate the skin. If you have an inflamed ingrown hair, hold off on using your sugar scrub and use Roller Rescue as a targeted treatment instead. This can help prevent further irritation while the area settles.Between your appointments, exfoliating regularly removes dead skin buildup and softens the skin. This helps the hairs slide out more easily for a smoother, more comfortable wax with less breakage and irritation. It also keeps the hair hydrated and minimizes pain during your service!  When using your sugar scrub, apply gently in light circular motions, following the direction of hair growth. If this is your first appointment and you don't have an exfoliating product yet, you can gently dry brush with a soft natural-bristle brush or use a non-abrasive exfoliating mitt before your appointment. Keep the pressure light and avoid over-exfoliating. I recommend starting proper aftercare routine with the products available in studio after your wax, as consistent aftercare can help make future waxing appointments more comfortable and support the best long-term results.  Loose, breathable clothing is best for your appointment and afterward. Think loose cotton sweatpants, a flowy dress or comfortable underwear. Tight jeans and leggings can create friction and may irritate freshly waxed skin. Please don't apply heavy body lotions, creams or oils to the area on the day of your appointment. These can create a barrier that prevents the wax from gripping the hair properly. For Brazilian waxing appointments, I provide a refreshing cleansing wipe for before your service to gently cleanse and prepare the skin. It's best to skip caffeine, energy drinks and alcohol until after your appointment, as these can increase skin sensitivity for some people and may make waxing feel more uncomfortable.Avoid tanning, sun exposure and tanning beds on the area being waxed for at least 48 hours before your appointment. This helps reduce the chance of increased sensitivity and irritation.Following these simple steps can help you arrive prepared and make your waxing experience as comfortable as possible.

What should I do after my wax to ensure the best results?

Proper aftercare is an important part of keeping your skin comfortable, smooth and healthy between waxing appointments. Your skin is more sensitive immediately after waxing, so giving it a little extra care during the first couple of days can make a big difference.Give your skin 48 hours to settle and avoid activities that cause excessive sweating, including workouts, saunas and hot tubs. It's also best to avoid swimming and sexual activity during this time. Stick with lukewarm showers rather than hot showers, and avoid anything that creates unnecessary heat, moisture or friction on the freshly waxed area.Wear loose, breathable clothing whenever possible to minimize friction and allow your skin to breathe comfortably.Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds on the waxed area for at least 48 hours after your wax. Freshly waxed skin can be more sensitive to the sun, which may increase the chance of irritation and discoloration.Try not to touch or pick at the waxed area during the first 48 hours. Keeping your hands away helps minimize irritation and keeps the freshly waxed skin clean.If you naturally sweat more during the summer or after a workout, a gentle hypochlorous acid skin spray can be a helpful addition to your aftercare routine. Mist clean, dry skin lightly and allow it to air dry.Once 48 hours have passed and your skin has settled, you can resume appropriate leave-on chemical exfoliating products to help prevent ingrown hairs and bumps and to support more even-looking skin.For ingrown hairs and red bumps, Bushbalm Roller Rescue is a gentle alcohol-free exfoliant containing salicylic, glycolic and lactic acids. For dark spots and discoloration, Bushbalm Radiant Toner Pads contain tranexamic acid along with gentle exfoliating acids to help improve the appearance of uneven skin tone.When using active products, follow the product directions and avoid applying them to areas that are irritated or sensitive. Radiant Toner Pads should be used on the outer bikini line only and never deep between the cheeks.Wait at least 48 hours before returning to your sugar scrub. When you do, apply it gently to damp skin using light, circular motions. Should I spray tan before or after my wax?

Always schedule your wax before your spray tan. It's best to wait at least 48 hours after your waxing appointment before getting a spray tan to give your skin time to settle.Waxing removes dead skin cells from the surface, so getting a spray tan beforehand can result in some of the tan being removed during your wax, leaving the colour looking uneven. Spray tanning too soon after waxing can also cause irritation, as freshly waxed skin may be more sensitive.For the most even, long-lasting tan, give your skin at least 48 hours to recover before your spray tan.If you're looking to give your skin some extra hydration and care after your wax, a vajacial can be a great addition to your appointment. A soothing, nourishing treatment can help leave the skin feeling soft, calm and hydrated before your spray tan a few days later..

Precautions and when waxing may not be recommended?

Before your appointment, it's important to let me know about anything that may affect your skin's sensitivity, healing or ability to safely tolerate waxing.The area being waxed should be healthy and intact. Please postpone your appointment if you have a sunburn, open wound, rash, active skin infection or significant irritation in the area being waxed.Please let me know about any medications or topical products you are using that may make your skin more sensitive or affect healing. This is especially important with oral or topical retinoids, including Accutane (isotretinoin), Retin-A (tretinoin) and other prescription retinoids.If you're using retinol, retinoids or other strong active products on the area being waxed, please let me know before your appointment so we can determine the appropriate amount of time to stop using them.Waxing may not be recommended while taking certain medications or during certain medical treatments. This can include oral retinoids, some strong acne medications, blood thinners, chemotherapy or radiation treatment, or medications and conditions that affect healing or circulation.If you've recently had surgery or another medical or cosmetic procedure in the area you would like waxed, please wait until the area has fully healed and, when appropriate, receive clearance from your healthcare professional before waxing.Stop using exfoliating products on the area being waxed at least 48 hours before your appointment. This includes AHAs, BHAs, glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid, white willow bark, fruit enzymes and resurfacing peels.If you've recently had a chemical peel, microdermabrasion or another resurfacing treatment, allow your skin to fully recover before waxing. The appropriate wait time can vary depending on the treatment, so please follow your provider's aftercare instructions.Waxing can be performed during pregnancy, although your skin may be more sensitive than usual. If you're new to waxing, I generally don't recommend starting for the first time while pregnant, especially later on, as the service may be more uncomfortable. If you'd like to continue waxing, it's best to have some experience with waxing beforehand so you know how your skin responds.Please let me know about any allergies or sensitivities before your appointment, particularly to ingredients commonly found in waxing and aftercare products. Some products used in the studio may contain ingredients such as aloe, tea tree oil, jojoba oil or grapeseed oil.It's best to skip caffeine, energy drinks and alcohol until after your appointment. What if I have allergies?

If you have any known allergies or sensitivities, please let me know before your appointment. Some of the products I carry and use in the studio contain ingredients that may be a concern for certain individuals.For example, Koochi Body Wash contains shea butter, which comes from the shea tree, as well as aloe and a blend of essential oils. Some Bushbalm oils may contain ingredients such as tea tree oil and aloe vera. Other products, including Roller Rescue, hydrogel vajacial masks, refreshing cleansing wipes and Nourishing Body Wash, may also contain aloe vera.If you have a known allergy or sensitivity to ingredients such as nuts, aloe, tea tree oil or essential oils, please let me know so we can choose products that are appropriate for you. If you're unsure whether a particular ingredient is suitable for you, it's always best to check with your healthcare professional before use.When trying a new skincare product, especially if you have sensitive skin or a history of allergies, I recommend doing a small patch test beforehand and following the product's directions. How should I care for my skin after a Hair Growth Inhibitor treatment?

Your hair growth inhibitor treatment is designed to help slow and reduce hair growth over time. The treatment includes the Hair Did It Go? by Relax & Wax, a serum that you’ll continue using at home, so consistency with your aftercare is an important part of getting the best results.After your wax, I'll apply the serum to the waxed area, and you'll take the remaining serum home to continue using during the initial aftercare period.Reapply the serum using clean,dry hands or gloves. Gently massage it into the waxed area until fully absorbed. Aim for 6-8 applications during the first 36-48 hours, using the remaining serum during this time.For the first 48 hours, avoid activities that create heat, sweat or friction on the treated area. This includes hot showers, steam rooms, saunas and intense workouts.Try to avoid showering for the first 6–8 hours after your treatment to give the serum time to absorb into the skin.During this initial period, avoid applying other products to the treated area, including moisturizers, oils and other skincare products. This gives the serum the best opportunity to work without other products interfering with its absorption.Once you've completed the initial aftercare period, you can return to your regular skincare and waxing aftercare routine.For the first couple of days, protect the treated area from direct sun exposure when possible. If you'll be outside once you're able to resume your regular skincare, cover the area with loose clothing or use an SPF 30+ sunscreen as appropriate.Wear loose, breathable clothing during the first 48 hours to minimize friction and keep the area comfortable.Staying hydrated is also a simple way to support healthy skin.Your next waxing appointment should be booked for approximately 4 weeks later, and you can continue your hair growth inhibitor treatment at your next appointment. Consistency is key, the serum works best when you follow the recommended application routine and continue your treatments as scheduled.
