A: Booking through my website ensures the smoothest experience and helps me keep prices fair by minimizing extra fees. You'll also find helpful prep tips and frequently asked questions to get the best results from your waxing.
A: Waxing can cause some discomfort, especially during your first visit, but most clients find it gets easier over time. I use premium fragrance-free and hypoallergenic hard wax by Bushbalm, gentle on the most sensitive skin while still giving excellent results. To help reduce discomfort, I recommend exfoliating the area 2-3 days before your appointment—this removes dead skin and helps the hair come out more easily. Moisturizing with Bushbalm’s Ingrown Hair Oil in the days leading up to your wax softens the hairs, reduces breakage, and hydrates the skin, making the process less painful and more effective. It's also best to avoid coffee and alcohol on the day of your appointment, as both can increase skin sensitivity.
Some clients choose to take an over-the-counter pain reliever like Ibuprofen or an antihistamine such as Benadryl about 30–60 minutes before their appointment to help manage discomfort or reduce histamine reactions, especially if they’re prone to redness or swelling.
For smoother results and more comfortable waxing appointments in the future, continue to moisturize daily and exfoliate 2–3 times per week between visits. This keeps the skin and hair healthy, prevents ingrowns, and makes each wax easier over time. For optimal aftercare, use pH-balanced products like Bushbalm's Roller Rescue or Radiant Toner Pads, paired with their scrub and ingrown hair oil, or combine with Koochi's pH-balanced body wash and oil for gentle daily care that supports long-term skin health and hydration.
A: For the best waxing results, your hair should be at least ¼ inch (about the length of a grain of rice) long so the wax can properly grip and remove it. However, I recommend letting your hair grow to about ½ inch, especially if you have coarser or thicker hair, for a more comfortable and effective wax.
Typically, this means waiting 2–3 weeks after shaving or about 4 weeks after your last waxing session before booking your next appointment. Keeping this hair length helps reduce discomfort, prevents missed spots, and results in smoother, longer-lasting skin.
If you have any questions about your waxing schedule or hair growth, feel free to reach out! At Pure Waxing in Wooler, Quinte West, I’m here to help you get the best, most comfortable waxing experience.
A: To ensure the best results and experience for your waxing appointment at Pure Waxing, we recommend the following preparation steps:
1. Shower beforehand: If you want to shower before your wax, that's totally fine, just try to keep it lukewarm and do it at least 30 minutes before you come in, so your skin has time to cool. I always prep your skin with a gentle oil to protect it and make the wax glide better. Cleansing your skin helps open pores and makes the waxing process smoother.
2. Exfoliate Gently: Please stop using Bushbalm's Roller Rescue or any exfoliants (including scrubs, AHAs, BHAs, which I carry in-studio) at least 2-3 days before your wax to avoid irritation or skin lifting. You can resume use about 48 hours after your wax, once the skin has calmed.
Exfoliating regularly removes dead skin buildup before your wax, helping the hairs slide out more easily for a smoother, more comfortable wax with less breakage and irritation. It keeps the hair hydrated and minimizes pain.
- Exfoliate using a gentle scrub like Bushbalm's Ingrown Hait Exfoliating Scrub.
- Apply gently with light pressure in circular motions to avoid skin irritation.
- Benifits: This hekps remove dead skin cells, softens the skin, and prepares hair follicles for a smoother wax.
3. Wear comfortable, loose clothing: Opt for loose, breathable cotton underwear and clothing to reduce friction and irritation after your Brazilian wax.
4. Avoid lotions and oils: These can interfere with the wax adhering properly to your hair.
5. Use intimate refreshing wipes: At Pure Waxing, I provide intimate refreshing wipes for you to use just before your wax to ensure optimal cleanliness and comfort.
6. Avoid Caffeine and Alcohol: I advise all clients to avoid caffeine and alcohol before their appointment. Both substances stimulate the nervous system and can increase skin sensitivity, which may make waxing feel more uncomfortable.
It’s also important to avoid tanning (sun exposure or tanning beds) on the waxing area for at least 48 hours before your appointment to reduce skin sensitivity and prevent irritation.
Following these steps will help make your experience at my relaxing, private home-based studio in Wooler, ON as pleasant and efficient as possible.
A: After your wax session at Pure Waxing, following proper aftercare is essential for optimal results and skin health.
First, avoid any activities that induce sweating, such as working out or spending time in saunas, hot showers as well as exposure to the sun, swimming, and sexual activity for 48 hours.
- Additionally, refrain from exfoliating or touching the waxed area during this period to prevent irritation or contamination.
- Wear loose, breathable clothing made from natural fibers to avoid friction irritation from synthetic materials.
Don’t shave or tweeze between waxes — this disrupts your hair growth cycle.
If you’re prone to ingrowns or notice red bumps, apply Roller Rescue — a gentle chemical exfoliant with salicylic, glycolic, and lactic acids. Roller Rescue is alcohol-free and formulated with salicylic acid and witch hazel to gently exfoliate and reduce inflammation. It helps prevent and treat ingrown hairs by clearing out clogged pores — without drying or irritating sensitive skin.
After waxing (2-3 days later): Use the Roller Rescue serum with the rollerball to soothe, exfoliate chemically, and prevent ingrowns.
Using the right products makes a huge difference. I only carry products I trust and personally use — all are formulated specifically for intimate skincare.
Moisturize daily with Bushbalm or Koochi oils, made with clean ingredients that won’t clog pores. These lightweight oils soothe, hydrate, and protect sensitive skin.
- For best results, apply moisturizer within two minutes after your shower to lock in moisture, though moisturizing at any time is better than not at all.

Consistant exfoliation and moisturizing are key to maintaining smooth, healthy skin between waxes.
If you haven't already, it's a good idea to pre-book your next appointment within 4 to 6 weeks. Staying on a consistent waxing schedule helps reduce discomfort, slows regrowth, and improves long-term results.
Adhering to these guidelines will help maintain smooth, healthy skin and enhance the longevity of your waxing results.
A: For the best results, always schedule your spray tan after your waxing appointment — and wait at least 48 hours. Waxing removes dead skin cells and hair, which helps your spray tan go on smoother and last longer. If you tan too soon after waxing, your skin may be too sensitive and the tan could absorb unevenly. If you tan before waxing, the wax can remove the colour and leave patchy results.
At Pure Waxing in Wooler, Quinte West, I provide one-on-one waxing services in a clean, relaxing studio — specializing in Brazilian waxing and full body care.
A: At Pure Waxing, your safety and well-being are my top priorities. Before scheduling a waxing appointment, particularly for sensitive areas such as Brazilian waxing, it's important to be aware of some key precautions and contraindications: 1. **Skin Condition:** Ensure the skin area to be waxed is healthy. Avoid waxing if you have sunburn, open wounds, rashes, or active skin infections. 2. **Medications:** Inform your waxing specialist if you are taking any medications, especially those that affect skin sensitivity such as Accutane, Retin-A, or any other topical or oral retinoids. These can make your skin more prone to irritation and damage during waxing.
If you use topical retinoids (creams or serums containing retinol or similar ingredients) on the area to be waxed, please stop using them at least 5 to 14 days before your appointment. This helps reduce the risk of irritation or sensitivity during waxing.
For your safety, if you have any of the following conditions or are using related medications, please provide a doctor's note or written approval before booking to ensure it is safe to proceed.
- Are currently undergoing or have recently completed chemotherapy or radiation
- Have had recent cosmetic or medical surgery in the area to be waxed
- Are taking blood thinners, oral retinoids (like Accutane), or strong acne medications. Waxing is generally not recommended during treatment and for at least 6 to 12 months after finishing.
-Have diabetes, especially if unmanaged or affecting circulation
- Are seeking waxing for post-cancer treatments affecting hair growth (e.g., hormonal growth along the sideburns or facial areas)
- Any other medical conditions or medications that may impact your skin's healing or sensitivity
If you have questions about your specific situation, feel free to contact me before booking. Your safety and skin health are important to me.
3. **Skin Care Products:** Discontinue the use of certain skincare products that contain alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), and other exfoliants at least 2-3 days prior to your wax.
This includes ingredients like glycohlic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid, white willow bark or extract, fruit enzymes, and any resurfacing acids or peels.
-These ingredients can over-exfoliate your skin and when combined with waxing, may increase the risk of redness, bleeding, scabbing, or skin lifting.
-After your wax, avoid using any exfoliants or active ingredients for a minium of 48 hours. Your skin needs time to calm and heal- reintroducing chemical exfoliants too soon can cause stinging or irritation.
4. **Recent Treatments:** Avoid scheduling a waxing session if you've recently had a chemical peel, microdermabrasion, or any resurfacing or exfoliating skin treatment.
-Wait at least 1-2 weeks after these treatments to allow your skin time to fully recover before waxing.
Waxing too soon after aggressive treatments can lead to irritation, lifting, or other unwanted reactions. 5. **Pregnancy:** If you are pregnant, it is safe to get waxed, but bear in mind that your skin may be more sensitive. Notify your waxing specialist so they can take extra care during the treatment. 6. **Allergies:** Let us know if you have any allergies, especially to products commonly used in waxing such as waxes and pre/post-treatment oils.
**Some of our products contain Aloe, Tea Tree Oil**
7.**Stimulants.** You recently comsumed a lot of caffeine. This stimulant in your system can cause skin to be extra sensitive to waxing... meaning you could get more red or inflammed than usual.
Drinking alcohol the day of or the night before waxing. Alcohol causes the blood to rise to the surface of the skin and can cause the skin to bruise easily. By adhering to these precautions, you can ensure a safe and comfortable waxing experience. Always communicate openly with me about any concerns or conditions you may have. At Pure Waxing, I strive to provide a peaceful, private atmosphere where you can feel confident and cared for during your waxing services.
A: At Pure Waxing, I carry both Bushbalm and Koochi — trusted Canadian skincare brands specializing in natural, effective products designed for pre- and post-waxing and shaving care, safe for sensitive and intimate areas. All products are pH-balanced, cruelty-free, made with clean ingredients, and suitable for all skin types.
These products are specially made to help prevent and treat ingrown hairs, soothe redness and irritation, and promote soft, smooth skin after waxing or shaving.
Bushbalm offers gentle sugar scrubs, lightweight non-greasy oils, and their popular Roller Rescue exfoliating serum — all formulated to support healthy skin between waxing or shaving sessions. ✨ They smell amazing, too! Or opt for Bushbalm Nude Oil, with just a barely-there tea tree scent.
Koochi products have heavenly scents — bakery-inspired, fruity, or beachy — including pH-balanced body wash, hydrating oils, and a full-body deodorant. Their oils are silky, non-greasy, and perfect for daily use.
Both lines are safe to use anywhere on the body — bikini line, underarms, legs, and more. Most oils are non-comedogenic, but note that Bermuda Oil from Bushbalm contains a small amount of fractionated coconut oil, which may not suit everyone’s skin. A patch test is always recommended.
🌿 Whether you wax, sugar, or shave, these clean, effective products help extend your results, prevent & treat ingrowns, and keep your skin feeling its best.

A: While sugaring is a popular natural hair removal method that adheres to dead skin cells and hair, I choose Bushbalm Bushbeads hard wax for a gentler, more effective waxing experience—especially for sensitive areas like the bikini line, underarms, and face.
Here’s why Bushbeads premium hard wax stands out for women’s waxing in Quinte West and surrounding areas like Northumberland, Trent Hills, Belleville, & Hastings County:
Exceptional Grip on All Hair Types & Lengths Whether your hair is coarse, fine, short, or long, Bushbeads delivers smooth, thorough hair removal with fewer passes and less breakage, ensuring longer-lasting results.
Designed for Sensitive Skin Bushbeads melt at a low temperature and create a protective barrier on the skin, gripping only the hair. This minimizes irritation, making it ideal for delicate waxing zones such as Brazilian, underarm & facial waxing. Bushbeads is a fragrance-free and hypoallergenic wax, gentle for even the most sensitive skin.
Less Sticky, Less Mess Unlike sugaring, which can be sticky and tricky to apply, Bushbeads hard wax sets quickly on the skin and peels off smoothly, leaving no sticky residue or need for cloth strips—perfect for a clean, professional waxing service.
More Comfortable Hair Removal Bushbeads remove hair from the root without pulling on live skin, resulting in less discomfort and fewer skin reactions.
Quick & Efficient Waxing Appointments This premium hard wax shortens your waxing session by requiring fewer passes, reducing redness, and making your visit faster and more comfortable.
Bonus: Gentle Exfoliation While removing hair, Bushbeads also gently exfoliate dead skin cells—helping prevent ingrown hairs, unclog pores, and promote smooth, even-toned skin.
Perfect for First-Time Waxers If you’re new to waxing or have experienced discomfort in the past, this low-irritation wax is an excellent choice.
At Pure Waxing in Wooler, Quinte West, I prioritize comfort, cleanliness, and superior results. Bushbalm Bushbeads hard wax is a professional-grade product I trust to provide the best waxing experience and skin care for all hair types and skin sensitivities.
A: Yes — your safety is important to me, and I want your skincare experience to be both safe and enjoyable.
Some of the products I carry may contain common allergens, including:
Koochi Body Wash – contains shea butter (from the nut of the shea tree), aloe, and a blend of essential oils
Bushbalm oils – may contain tea tree oil and aloe vera
Products like Roller Rescue, Hydrogel Vajacial Masks, Intimate Refreshing Wipes, and the Nourishing Body Wash also include Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice or Extract, which helps hydrate and calm the skin.
👉 If you have a known allergy to nuts, aloe, tea tree, or essential oils, please avoid these products or check with your healthcare provider before use.
I always recommend doing a patch test 24 hours in advance when trying any new skincare product, especially if you have sensitive skin or a history of allergies.
After your Hair Inhibiting Enzyme Treatment at Pure Waxing, following the proper post-care routine is key to seeing results and keeping your skin calm and healthy. Here’s what I recommend:
Avoid heat and sweat for the first 48 hours — that includes hot showers, steam rooms, saunas, and intense workouts. These can irritate the area and reduce the effectiveness of the enzyme.
Hold off on showering for 6–8 hours after your appointment to let the enzyme fully absorb into the skin.
Do not apply other products to the treated area. You want the enzyme to reach the hair follicle without anything blocking it.
Reapply the serum you’re sent home with. Using clean, dry hands or gloves, gently rub it into the skin until fully absorbed. Aim for 6–8 applications (or more) within the first 36–48 hours. The more often you apply it, the better the results.
Skip moisturizers and oils during this time — wait until at least 48 hours after treatment before applying anything else to the area.
Protect the area from sun exposure for the first couple of days. If you’re outside, wear loose clothing and apply an SPF of 30+ once it’s safe to use other products again.
Stick to loose, breathable clothing to avoid friction and let the skin breathe.
Stay hydrated — drinking water supports skin health and healing.
Book your next wax in 4 weeks and your hair growth inhibitor serum at your appointment. Consistency is everything — it doesn’t work if you don’t use it!
